2.1 Definition of Balance in Nature

Balance in nature refers to the steady-state equilibrium within an ecosystem where biotic (living) and abiotic (non-living) components interact harmoniously. It ensures that populations of organisms remain stable over time, allowing ecosystems to function properly without drastic changes.

2.2 Factors That Maintain Balance in Nature

Food Chains and Food Webs

Energy flows through ecosystems via food chains and food webs. Producers (plants) convert sunlight into energy, herbivores consume plants, and carnivores consume herbivores. Decomposers break down dead organisms, recycling nutrients back into the environment.
