Introduction
Energy is needed for every activity we perform. Human beings require energy to walk, run, read, and work. Machines also need energy to operate.
Without energy, there will be no movement, no production, and no life activities.
Energy exists in different forms and can be changed from one form to another. This process is known as energy conversion.
Meaning of Energy
Energy is the ability or capacity to do work.
It is required to perform any activity or cause change.
Forms of Energy
There are different forms of energy. They include:
- Mechanical energy
- Heat energy
- Light energy
- Sound energy
- Electrical energy
- Chemical energy
- Solar energy
- Nuclear energy
1. Mechanical Energy
Mechanical energy is the energy possessed by moving or stationary objects.

2. Heat Energy
Heat energy is a form of energy that causes substances to become hot.

Law of Conservation of Energy
The law of conservation of energy states that:
Energy can neither be created nor destroyed but can only be converted from one form to another.
This means the total amount of energy remains constant.

- Produces electricity.
