Introduction
In our daily life, we perform many activities that require effort. Sometimes, these tasks are difficult to do without help.
Simple machines are tools that help us do work more easily by reducing effort or changing the direction of force.
They are found in homes, schools, farms, and industries.
Meaning of Simple Machines
Simple machines are devices that make work easier by reducing effort, changing direction of force, or increasing speed.
Types of Simple Machines
The main types of simple machines are:
- Lever
- Pulley
- Inclined plane
- Wheel and axle
- Wedge
- Screw
1. Lever
A lever is a rigid bar that turns around a fixed point called a fulcrum.
Examples:
- Seesaw
- Crowbar
- Bottle opener
- Scissors
Uses:
- Lifting heavy objects
- Cutting materials
- Moving objects easily
2. Pulley
A pulley is a wheel with a rope used to lift heavy objects.
Examples:
- Flag pole
- Well bucket system
- Crane

3. Inclined Plane
An inclined plane is a sloping surface used to move objects up or down easily.
